Worked IOTA Contest while on holiday in parents' caravan on East Coast of UK EU005. Fun Contest for second attempt

5B4AFB- IC-756
3 el. beam and Butternut Vertical
Used SDI logging program

7N2UQC- I was able to enjoy this contest.Tnx for a fine contest again.
Rig:IC-706, ANT:Dipole

9A/HA3NU- It was absolutely dxpedition setup for me, but unfortunately there is a bridge to the island. All qso-s were made by a 14 Mc dipole and for 40 meters I used a WARC band GP (hi). Most of the energy was shot to the roof of the house. I did it just for fun.

9A/VE3ZIK- A very nice contest. Missed some EU MTPL on 10m. Radio: Icom 738, 100W, antennas: 80m, 20, 15 and 10m dipole, 40m L/4 GP. Interesting was in Sunday morning, L/4 GP for 40m was better on 15m as dipole (dont forget, on 15m this antenna works approx. as 5/8 GP).QTH was Zlarin Island, CI-148 and EU-170. Thanks to my wife for support. I hope to be active once again next year in IOTA contest.

9A3B- FT-1000MP MV Field
KT34XA, 1.EL QQ 40/80m
Vorse propagations on 10/15 meters than last year.
But again plenty of fun and very nice contest weekend.
See you same time in 2008. year.

9A7T/P- Murphy was very persistent. We almost lost our generator, no DX cluster connection again, but in spite of that we made more multipliers than last year. It was very hot, at the beginning and at the end of contest it was 40 C +. See you all next year.

9M6DXX- FT-2000
KLM KT-34A beam at 45ft and 40/80m dipoles
Have conditions ever been worse? I heard only three
British Isles stations and worked only one: did not
even hear EU-005! Very little activity from anywhere
except Europe: I had good propagation to Japan but very
little activity from JA - more publicity required there.

9M6XRO- Rig: Yaesu FT-1000MP Quadra Linear running 400 watts output
Ant: 2el Cubical Quad Butternut HF2V Vertical both up approx 27m
I spent a lot of time running with mostly European land based stations so my low points tally reflects the lack of other Island stations in my log!
I always think it is a pity that there are not more participants from Japan as the JAs are all island stations and would be in demand. It would also help the likes of me in this part of the world to have stations to work when the bands are flat or not open to Europe. Maybe it is possible to get more publicity in Japan?

9V1RH- Ft=-1000 bare foot
Inverted L long wire 23 metres up.
Propagtion across the HF bands very poor.
EU ops tend not to listen for weaker signals out of EU.
AF NA SA did not exist during this contest.
Senior citizen so forget lesser used commands. SIGH!
Used SDI

AA9DY- I wished I had more time to play. I brought my TS-50 out to Galena, IL to check out my operating QTH for the ILQP coming up. Was getting dark outside and had to take off for home. Ran 50 watts into a 20m dipole.

AO7AAW- I have enjoyed very much the contest and I hope to be there next year with better conditions. The propagation was for me very bad in 28 and 21 MHz. I have very bad conditions for the installation of the antennas for 3,5 and 7 Mhz because I have not enough room. Thanks for the organization of the contest.

B4X- We use B4X contest callsign at Dongxilian island(as135) in 2007 IOTA CONTEST.Our RIG is IC-756PRO3+AL811H 500W and IC-746PRO 100W. ANTs is 2ele 40m HB9CV AFA40 ,3band(20,15,10) spiderbeam, and vertical ant with autotunner. This is our 1st IOTA CONTEST, We Hope get more stations next year.

B7P/7- Because our misoperation before contest, both of our computers and controls which are used for transmitting CW are out of work. Hence, sorry that there is no QSO in CW during the contest.

BA4TB/4- IC-746
Dipole
Very bad conditions

BG4DVK- This is my 1st time joining the IOTA contest. I find I already fell in love with it now. See you next year on the air.

CQ7P- Very very poor propagation... maybe better next time.

73s Filipe Lopes CT1ILT

CT1AGF- Hunting IOTAs

CT1DRB- IT WAS A VERY GOOD CONTEST, PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE NOT FINE ANTENNAS FOR 40/80M, DESPITE THAT IT RAN VERY GOOD.

CT1ENQ- Icom 706 MKIIG
Home made dipole with MFJ971 ATuner
Used SDI as usual for IOTA Contest. My first IOTA
contest working outside an IOTA. Band cndx were poor at
least with my antennas. Must improve my antenna system.
See you next year! 73 de CT1ENQ (CQ2I-CQ2C-CQ2P op).

CT4GO- Kenwood TS870
Optibeam OB9-5 + Dipole 40/80 mts.
SDI is very cool! Tnx EI5DI.
Poor band conditions.

CU8T- In a big storm we lost our A3S beam and the 18m tower. With the tower the 80m dipole came down too and we had to work 80m with the HF9V GP. Shortly before the contest started we erected a rotary dipole for 10m/15m/20m 6m up. Sorry for our weak signal but we did the best out of our situation. During the contest we lost the 15m stub of our Butternut HF9V too. Fortunately, the 40m four square array survived the storm.
Murphy was with us again and we hope that he will be absent next year.

DA0T- QTH was on Neuwerk island, EU127. This is a very small island at the mouth of river Elbe in the North Sea. There are 37 people living permanently on the island, no cars allowed.
Most people ride on horses. Team was not complete because no ferry boat was going from mainland in this stormy wx. WE put on all guy lines to the masts we had...no aerials lost.
We had to stay one more night on the island as planned, because of another gale.
Team stayed in farmer's barn the last night until the wx gets better. Then finally left EU127-GIA N12 on tuesday morning. Would we do that again ? YESSSS !

DA0UBOOT- Strange Call for a Contest! ;-)

DC1HPS/P- Alinco DX70
G5RV
thanks for contest

DD1IM- Hi all, I really missed a lot of VE/W-stns this yr. Also vy low traffic on 15 es 10 mtrs... it was hard work to achieve my 2005s score level. But I did meet so mni friends all over the bands :-)
Tu all ops for the contacts - and RSGB for the logs analysis and summary, the contest itself, too. Hpe participate agn.
Vy 73/55, gl es cwfe de Sascha DD1IM (member of DARC, DOK K27)

DF1LON/P- Great Contest, very bad weather. My YL and I were on a camping place on Borkum EU-047. I had to lower my glasfiber mast so that it would not break in the wind. Station TS-480 100w, 9m Glasfibermast, SG230 tuner and 4 radials (each 10m long) somewhere on the small piece of ground that we had for our tent.
We had lot of rain and very strong winds. The glasfiber mast could not be left unattended because it collapsed a few times. Lots of rain and especially the sand makes it a bit unsafe.
And now we also need a new tent. One of the supporting glasfiber bars is broken, the stitching of the tent is damaged at some places and after the first night we already needed some new ropes to tighten the tent because the piece that is responsible for adjusting the rope length was broken. Never had so much bad weather during an IOTA Contest.
I was QRV the first 8 contest hours and on sunday morning from 5utc until 9utc. Next time I have to spend more time on 80m to collect some more mults. Nothing heard on 10m and only one signal on 15m during my 12h contest time. Very difficult to find those needed IOTA Mults. Seems that more IOTA stations use SSB than CW.

DF2VD/P- TS570DG
dipole
some stations did work more than 5 min after end. I used SDI it works well

DG1ROL- My second contest. I will learn to get more QSOs next time...

DH2URF- FT-840

Thanks for nice contest. My power only 10w. Have no
tuner. Next year better Good Luck vy 73, Richard

DH6DAO- No sunspots - no conditions

DJ1AA- Thanks for all the QSOs. I worked this year in the 12h SSB Low Power category. It was not so easy with only 100W. Sometimes 10 minutes or more to wait for a contact. See you next year 2008

DJ2ET- Kenwood TS-850
GAP Titan
First Time in Contest SDI Software is very helpfull

DJ3GE- With QRP (< 5 Watt) it was difficult to contact islands. I had to wait untill the Big Guns were served. But QRP is free of stress and makes fun. Thanks for the nice contest.

DJ3WE- Lousy condx to start with. In the evening 80m was nice, however, no time to seriously participate. vy 73 de Rudy, DJ3WE

DJ5FZ- FT1000MP/Mark5 (selected RF Power Output to 75 Watts)

SDI Programm is great
vy poor condx
only few Stns outside Europe
will take part next year also
tnx fer fine contest

DJ6QT- Thanks for the intereting contest!

DK2AB- For the first time I did CW QSOs in a contest. The software-decoder helped a lot. Next year again with better equipment and more CW operating experience. I used an TS440-SAT and a GPA-50. The antenna did a good job also on 40m and 80m.

DK4LX- TS930s

Thank for CONTEST! 73, ALEX

F/OT3T- IC-7400 with homebrew Inverted-V 20m 40m (traps)
Our very first participation in the IOTA contest!
The challenge was to participate as a DX-pedition with very limited means but aiming for competitive result! We have been amazed by the interest of stations in collecting new IOTA references, like ours which was not activated since several years. This thrill has already generated some new ideas for next year ... Thanks to organisers and
all OMs who called us and EI5DI for SDI logging soft ! CU and 73s!

F/PA0MIR- From the campsite with ATAS antenna on the car tried to make some contacts

F1MQJ- Poor home made dipole, but the important thing is to be on the air !, perhaps next year on island (EU-156, EU-157)

F4AGR- Small participation in my side. I hope make well next year

F5RD- Icom IC-751AF
Multiband dipole for 80 to 15 m - 3 ele Yagi on 10 m
Hard contest with 50 W and a multiband dipole
A little better than last year
Have QSO some stations on the 5 bandes
Thanks to all who worked me
See you in 2008

F5SGI- Fun, despite some troubles with my computer...

F5VKT- First time fun entry - hope it's useful as a check log

F6FYA- First try in this contest. Propagation was not so good but I had fun. To me, the most interesting contest after the CQ WW, some pile ups were incredible and close to the most wanted expeditions ! But with no cops! I don't miss you cops ! Harrrg, was great and for sure will be back.

F6IFY- Sorry, not a serious effort, but a nice contest anyway.
73 Philippe - F6IFY

F8AKC- Never did this contest before. Had fun to discover and found it useful to complete my Iota on 10M.
SRI the condx were not there. I hope in the future.

VERY HARD WITH 5 WATTS

G0CER- Enjoyed this years - feel I'm hitting a points ceiling with my gear.

G0DIZ- FT1000MP
Cushcraft X7 and G5RV
Love this program. Thanks Paul. Too many people failed
to identify every over so much time wasted
In the end I gave up due to lost voice.

G0FHM- FT-857D
Carolina Windom 40 (40m-10m) 120ft end fed 80m
Only 40w due to PSU going bang!
S7 Local Noise!
FT-857 RX Not good enough for contesting even with DSP;
lots of big wide signals, RX struggled to cope!
Also heard some stns out of contest band limits!!

G0KDS- COULD HAVE DONE BETTER BUT TEMPORARY ANTENNAS ARE ONLY 20 FT FROM GROUND, THAT IS 20M 15M 40M 80M

G0MRH- Kenwood TS-870, 80 - 100 Watts, auto ATU.
138 ft Doublet, meandering in a small garden!
Hard work at times but managed to make a fair number
of contacts in the time available. Pity about the
lack of IOTA references from a lot of stations and
the clash with another contest.
Logging with Super Duper Iota version - excellent.

G0MTN- Sub-optimal 12 hours fitted around domestic commitments. As Search and Pounce seems to be the best way to go from a second tier SO1R EU005 station like this, thats what I did. It was a pretty miserable time with poor pile up discipline and frustrating lack of I.D.ing by stations, as usual.
Understandable given the long exchanges, but still disappointing. Never mind.

G0ORH- Solo effort this year, plenty of calls to keep me awake. Enjoyable as ever.
Ken..G0ORH

G0PBV- FT 840
Half size G5RV and Cushcraft R6000
Good to be back again after a break
Thanks as always to EI5DI for the program!

G0PSE- IC756PRO2

SDI WORKED PERFECTLY - AGAIN

G0TLA- ft757gx
multiband dipole
10 metres not good; some operators did not give callsigns often enough and did not wait to check information. Other than that a good contest

G0TOC- Didn't have the time to work many, but managed to pick-up a few new groups.

G0UGO- Struggled to get out of western europe; propogation bad. Hopefully better next year with some sunspots!!

G0UKX- ic706ii
Half g5rv
SDI excellent as always
Condx in and out my 50watts was a struggle

G0VAX- Conditions were really down on previous contests, with not many stations heard from the US.

G0WKW- No particular goal in mind - just giving points away to anyone who needed them. Thanks to everyone who called. Cheers es 73s, Vic

G1T- Fantastic weekend. The weather was very kind and the bands seemed to be holding up nicely. On top of that we smashed our score from last year!

G1WMJ- Icom F7000

First HF contest enjoyed it
SDI made it easier

G2B- Yaesu FT-1000MP
Moseley TA-33 JNR-N + Multiband Wire dipole O/W feeder
Not ideal band conditions but we managed to keep up a
constant QSO rate throughout. We did lose the linear
for a little while but soon repaired. Overall the WX
was very kind and we enjoyed the summer sunshine at
last a pity about the MOSQUITOs!!!!

G2HDR- Kenwood TS870S
1/2 G5RV
Conditions poor
SDI performed well - as usual. A good programm

G2R- icom756proII
3-ele beam at 60feet agl trap dipole
Great contest as usual.
It would be great if stations would occasionally use
call signs instead of just qrz??

G3JJZ- IC756 ProIII 25Watts

Band condx were terrible most of time.
Well psed with SDI for the support it gives during
the contest - listing the IOTA refs etc.

G3LHJ- YAESU FT 990 - 100Wts
3El Tribander TA33Jr - 40/80M Loaded Dipole
Could not put the full time to it this year. very
enjoyable. pity 10m did not open up this weekend only
one Qso. found cracking the pile-ups this year was more
time comsuming. SD worked FB.
CU next year - 73 de Derrick.

A few QSOs for the deserving, nothing serious.

G3PJT- IC7000, 28MHz 3el Yagi, 14 and 21 Optibeam,7MHz 4 Sq, 3.5MHz dipole
Conditions 80m quiet, 10m wide open shame not more activity, otherwise average for bottom of the cycle.

Never entered before so just a taster

G3RSD- TS940S

WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES TO BE ONE OF THE ISLAND
STATIONS AND GIVE OUT MORE POINTS

G3TXF- Enjoyable part-time (QRV 14 hrs) activity mostly on 80m CW and 20m CW. Just a few QSOs on SSB. Highlight was being called by KG6DX (Guam) on 20m CW just two minutes before the end. Generally conditions sounded pretty grim with next to nothing on 15m and 10m.

G3URA- Icom746
Dipole
Just a few QSOs as a check-log. Too tired after getting
home from work!

G3YMC- Please treat this as a checklog! Conditions awful and soon lost interest, 73 Dave

G3YNN- A highly enjoyable contest, great experience for some newer operators in the club and some pleasant dx around to keep the regulars happy! Stunning to be able to work ZL1 and ZL4 on 40cw.

Unfortunately family commitments called me away before
I really got going.

G4BJM- K2/100 400W
Dipoles, loop, yagi
Good fun, used SDI as always.

G4DBL- Lost the last two hours of the 12, due to lack of sleep! and suspect c/o relay. Quite pleased with an average of over 50 Q/hr without a conventinal beam antenna - trying some more secret weapons under development at DBL Antennas!

G4DDL- FT2000
30m Longwire at 6m + inv V doublet at 5m
Poor condx and very little worked outside EU
Best score yet despite above!

G4EKT- Kenwood TS850 + PA
80m Doublet
Our normal contest location at Bewholme was under water
so we had to operate from our club house in the
middle of Hornsea with a high back-ground noise level.
It was hard work.
SDI did what it says on the lable. It is all we ask!

G4FAL- I operated from my home with dipoles for 80m and 40m and a two element tribander for 20m, 15m and 10m. I used Wintest instead of my normal self-written software, and had immediate problems - the worst being that the latest version had a major glitch when working a station for the second time; the IOTA reference filled in with 599xxx instead of EUxxx and was impossible to delete for non-island stations. I lost about an hour diagnosing this and reinstalling an older version. Apparently this was a known problem, so why was the faulty version still available for download last week? Despite this delay it was good to have the online analysis of progress to encourage me to try to improve my QSO rate.
The Canine Radiography was poor but there were plenty of EU islands to work. I was glad to pick up a few mults on 10m, and 15m was quite active on Sunday morning. Thanks to all for the QSOs and I hope to see you next year.

G4FKA- SP throughout looking only for island stations. Nice to get a few in the home log instead of being out on expedition! Conditions variable on the higher bands with high noise levels. Better on 80/40 overnight.

G4FVK- I enjoyed the contest but didn't think that there were as many island stations on as in previous years. Very pleased to add two new ones.

G4IUF- IC7400
C4XL Multiband Yagi
Main Op was from G6MC contest station
Enjoyed using SDI

G4LDL- FT1000MP
Small 3 ele beam. 80 - 10m vertical. Doublet
Used SDI for logging - worked fine.
First time done this from home - usually with Swindon
Club M4W - but their site(s) washed out.
Difficult to get run going with only 100w except on 80m
Higher bands not very good + little o/s Europe

G4OOC- Equipment: FT1000MP 6ele Yagi - Windom Band conditions were fine SDI was very good to use

G4RFR- FT1000MP Mk V Field + TL922 Linear
TH6DXX and Windom

G4VMX- FT2000
Butternut HF5B Diamond CP6 vertical

many stations not giving callsigns until requested
by other stations. SDI good and simple to use
excellent for the job at hand.

G4WGE/P- Elecraft K2/100
160M Carolina Windom
Overambitious plan to use a tribander at 50ft. The ground
was too soft to safely guy the mast - had a 3ft stake pull
out during the test lift. Then found that there were bits
of the Tribander missing as well! Other necessary duties
on the Scout Camp site meant this wasn't as serious an
entry as it could have been.

G6CSY- Icom IC-7400, Vertical and Inverted L, Perhaps 10m next year?
Thanks to all the rain the 20m long inverted L tuned up on 80m ! Wahoo ! SDI worked flawlessly.

G6UBM- TEN TEC ORION

GI3YS- Our van broke down on Friday afternoon on the A2 about 2 miles north of Larne. By the time we got a replacement we didn't arrive on Rathlin until late Saturday morning. First Q was at 12.24z, a power cut for 45 minutes on Sunday morning, in spite of all this we still beat last year's score. Here's looking forward to IOTA 2008.

GI4AAM- IC7400
G5RV
SD was super. Highly recommend it.

GJ6YB- This was Bristol CGs first time on Jersey. And great fun it was !
HF conditions were awful with virtually nothing worked on 10m. 15m closed before we had a chance to work CW on the band. Unfortunately it didnt open again. So we spent most of our time on 20m and 40m. Our 40m beam was working well with a lot of North American stations worked during the night and few greyline ZL VK.
Weather was windy and we had an exposed location so we didnt put our tower up too high. Although we got drenched on the Saturday there were a few of us suffering sunburn too.
Had our fair share of technical problems... N1MM would not start a new log at zero. After 10 minutes we had to give up and start at serial number 39 ! On the hardware side, the voltage from our new generator was low so we were having to keep the power down to avoid signal distortion.

GM0B- Generator failure caused delays. Weather was good. Thanks to all who worked us.

GM2T- Another fantastic time on the island with the hospitality second to none. All the equipment went together without any initial incidents on the Friday. On the Saturday morning the farmer decided to let the cows roam in the same field as our antennas so we woke up to find that the cows had brought our 10M crashing to the ground. The Original 6 element was then tenderly repaired and became a 5 element.
About two hours to go our 40M beam went high SWR and this turned out to be a break in the phasing harness coax. The contest started and one of our radios went funny on receive. The radio was replaced with a spare we had taken. The logging software Win-Test ran superbly. Our only other disaster was on the homeward journey about 8 miles from home when a wheel on one of our towers collapsed.
Weather for the weekend was superb and we even had a BBQ on the Sunday night.
A great contest enjoyed by each and everyone of us.

GM2Z- Many thanks for the nice Contest, enjoyed!

GM3CFS- Nice contest but more activity from Asia Oceania Africa

GM7TUD- A relaxed contest just sp mode, but spoiled a little by stations not observing the rules and working above 14300, missed quite a few References that were above 14300.I cannot understand why stations cannot read the rules. No wonder there are so many contest haters.

IS0/OM3LA- Mr. Murphy was with me all the time.

I planned to work SO2R but my 2nd TCVR broke the very first day of my holiday. Very strong wind on friday night before the contest smashed my antenna so 4 hours before the contest started I woke up and saw a disaster. I had to repair the antenna and the tower. I finished the work 30 minutes before the start of the contest. But the rotor didn't want to turn the antenna. I decided to operate the contest anyway. What I had was a spiderbeam fixed to NW about 10m up for
20-15-10 and dipole fed with open feeder and tuned with an external tuner for 80 and 40. My 3rd antenna was R7000 hidden behind our guesthouse. The reports with R7000 were 1-2 S units worse than with dipole.
I started at 12:05 on 15m with huge pile-up from England. After 15 minutes my computer crashed, I tried to restart the programme, the device router (I still used SO2R Box from Microham as interface) but it did not work. I had to restart the computer and the problem was solved. But I lost another 20 minutes. Then the contest really began for me. The rates were great - the best one 214/hour at
16:00 on 20m. There were not too many callers from the east, but I logged some Japanese boys, some 5b4A´s... Then I moved to 40m. There I had an incredible pile-up for hours. At 2:00 the SWR got worse. I tried to find a better match with my tuner - but no luck. My CW was distorted - HF feedback was the reason.
I moved to 80m. I could work a couple of stations here but the SWR problem deteriorated. There were fewer callers, they didn't hear me well. I knew there was a serious problem with my antenna. I went out to the darkness - I couldn't see anything for minutes. Then I saw there was no problem with the tower, the wires were still hanging in the trees, the problem was my matching unit. This unit could not withstand the power of my SPE amplifier (1k PEP). I lost another
30 minutes. This situation was serious, I had very few multis on 40 and 80m. I worked a couple of new multis on 40m with R7000 but the rates went down. I was very tired and the missing antenna for 80m cracked me down.
At 8:00 local time my wife brought me a cup of coffee - and saved my life :-) Then I moved to 20m, 15m and 10 and had good rates again. I finished the contest with almost 2800 QSO and 4,67 mil. points. I was hoping I could break the 5 mil. points but without a working antenna for low bands for a few hours it wasn't possible. Anyway it was nice experience, my first contest holiday.
CU next time.

IT9BLB- After deleting the announced activity as IT9BLB/IH9, because of some personal problems, we decided to join the contest from our usual contest QTH near Palermo. SDI is a great software
We had short of electricity because of the hot weather
but we were lucky not forest fires.

J48YL- As we had the same QTH like J48M we had to arrange with bands, ants and mods to not interfere with each other. Our target was to make as many QSOs with both stations to give out the very rare EU-158 group.

JA1BPA- The propagation was very bad on 15mb and 10mb, so I had to do SP on lower bands.
The pile-up for island stations were huge, but I believe that it makes sense to take time to put the 15 pointers in my log.

JA1STY- TNX FB Contest.

than normal, but was able to work all I heard. By local
noon time the bands went flat. Later also did not have my usual local afternoon opening to AS and OC but managed to work what I heard. Hope for better conditions next year!

80M Inverted V Win Test This was a SO1R effort, 40m antenna was a very basic home made vertical with only one elevated radial but did manage to work VK ZL and several Caribbean mults. My Points per QSO is very poor, was hoping for more G stations on 80M and a better run to JA on 20M and some on 15M but it did not happen. N1MM software has been a treat to use as past few contests however this time i went
for Win test since a lot are starting to use it and i can see why, i set myself an objective file target of 2000 Qs and 250 mults which i just about managed, i wonder if i had set it at 2500 Qs and 300 mults would i have worked harder.

First time on CW - really enjoyed the contest; will practice more for next year. I will be back! TNX to those who endured my CW

SDI makes logging easy! (If only it was available for Linux, then it would be absolutely brilliant.)

MJ0PCB- First time Ive entered. Happened to have inadvertantly (honest!) booked a week's camping around the IOTA
weekend. Only had my FT-817 with battery power and for the contest I used 5W of CW into an 88 inverted-vee doublet in a nearby tree. Operated for just under 6 hours in total. Not a serious effort this year, though seriously considering going back to MJ next year with a bit more of a station for a proper go. :-)

Operated two radios with the microHAM MK2R control box and this certainly boosted my score. Still need to work on the CW, although over 100 Qs and lots of mults contributed significantly.
Planning already underway for next year, CU then!

N1LI- First time entering this contest...very surprised at the strong activity. I will be back next year for another go!

N2ESP- 100W dipole @ 8M. Numerous thunderstorms limited operating time.

N2WN- Conditions were so-so here Saturday. Sounded like the EU islands were really working hard judging by the numbers. A good showing for NA islands kept things going... Enjoyed working all had some good catches FW0YL, 4X7AZ (on 40 with a dipole sloping in the wrong direction), JA6GCE/6. Thanks to all the folks who traveled to put an island on!

N4A- N4YDU did all of the heavy lifting as the primary station operator, while W4KAZ twiddled his thumbs on the mult station. Poor propagation, but a Great Island for the DXpedition.

OK6Y- Hello everybody!
Thank you very much for the pleasant time in this contest during my vacation.
I decided to participate in this contest 3 days before the beginning of my family vacation. I bought G5RV, enclosed it with TRX and laptop and leaved for the hotel in Krkonose (Giant Mountains). My new QTH was the hotel Energetik in 1070 mtrs asl (see www.energetikpec.cz). It is very nice place with beautiful view to our highest mountain Snezka (1602 mtrs asl). My thanks to helpful hotel´s management which satisfied my radioamateur´s needs.
I decided to choose QRP category to get new experience. That´s true this category needs different game than LP. Nobody is perfect :-))

We did not focus enough on finding and working multipliers but took the opportunity to train less skilled Ops for the future. This is a very fine contest with enormous activity. Tnx to all and to the organisers. On behalf of the PA1BX/P crew - ON5UM - Jim

PA3S- With the help from PA3EWP AND PA5F with setting up, getting started and awake my first ever solo hf contest. I hope that i will get better!

PA5GU- Having only a few hours to spend I did stay on one single band only.

PA5TT- Enjoyed contest very much. Also visiting the many /p stations on EU-146. Very popular Island (hi).

PA7PYR- Kenwood ts 450sat

PB2JJ- Very nice contest, My antenna was a Fritzel gpa30 up abt 11mtr above ground mounted on a 3mtr long pipe on the balcony.

PB2T/P- Our 7th DXpedition to Goeree was again a great success. In spite of hitting the bottom of the sunspot cycle we were glad with the score. Also the just as important social activities we enjoyed very much with the great group. Rig: 2* FT1000+ACOM, 2el Quad, 3el SteppIR, dipoles, verticals, filter boxes

PY2NY- Was better than last year, but still a very low score, with no IOTA QSOs out there... Really need to be more effective next year, looking only for multipliers - much better than call CQ. Anyway, was really nice to do the contest again, at 12 hrs low power...

SK0HS/0- Very difficult conditions this year. Hope for better next.
Blido is in square JO99lp.

SK7OA- Great contest !

SM3/EA8CN- Nice to hear activity on the bands, hopefully the HF bands will improve by next year.

SM5CJW/2- It was very funny to be in the IOTA contest. My QTH, loc JP87LN, was on a very small island (zise 200 m) in the Padjelanta National Park in the Arctic area of Sweden. I
was on an 8 days solo walk through the wilderness. My back pack weight was only 18 kg so I had a nice time up there. My 1.5 kg of radio equipment was KX1 with spare batteries, 5 m vertical antenna and ground plane. The power output was
only 1 W on 20 m CW. The weather was nice with temperatures in the range 5 - 22 degrees C and water temperatures 2 - 12 degrees C. The mountains were rather much snow covered above 1000 m asl. My walking distance this year was 75 km.

SM6WZH- Yaesu FT-897d

UW7W- Poor condx.

V31MX- YAESU FT 100
20 METER DIPOLE
IN 57 YEARS OF OPERATING I HAVE NEVER HAD BAND
CONDITIONS AS POOR AS THIS YEAR. HIGH QRN LEVELS AND
QSB.
USED SDI FOR THE FIRST TIME AND ENJOYED THE PROGRAM

VA3RKM- K2, 5w, verticals. Hard going for QRP at times. Thanks for being patient!

VA7ST- Thanks RSGB for the contest! 40M was great to the Pacific both mornings (contest starts 5 a.m. local). 20M was good to EU, but 15M and 10M were washouts. Great to work FW0YL on 20 and 40 with strong signals.

VA7XP- Went on DXPedition for the day. Propagation was absolutely horrible. Had great weather and food though. Ferry ride was very pleasant.

VC1W- New island - great location! The old lightkeeper's house was perfect for both run + mult. Antennas worked well, and we had minimal inter-station QRM, but QSB repeatedly knocked out Europe on 20m. Wish we had more openings on 80 too!

VE1JS- FT1000MP
Force 12 C19XR and Alpha Delta Twin Sloper
A very minimal effort this year. Just enough to say
that I've been in every IOTA Contest from the first to
the present. SDI continues to be my ONLY logging program for this contest

VE1TRI- ve1tri/ tancook island NA-081 I had a low OFC dipole from the workshop up the hill. I operated from a large comfortable boat shed with a deck/warf on mahone bay facing north toward the town of Chester. The ferry is operated by residents of big tancook Island. I slept and operated not more than 7 to 10 meters depending on whether the tide was in or out. I had a great time even though I did not make a lot of contacts. It was a beautiful starry night and my hostess Tess could see the light of the radio and boat shed as she approached the main wharf on the night ferry.

VE2DWA- Yaesu FT-102
G5RV
Nice to be active in IOTA again. Ive use SDI as log

VE2FK- This was our first experience. Will do it again next year from
another island and do better.

VE3MCF- FT897
G5RV 44 Doublet
Could not find any contesters on 10 40 or 80
Only one contact on 15
Much better than last year for me.
SDI worked well

VE3OM- Nice to hear FW0YL operating
in the contest. As always, it
was a fun event - even at this
low extreme of the s.s cycle.

VE3UW- FT1000MP MkV Field
Wire Vee beam
Conditions rather poor but worked a few needed groups.
My first experience using SDI. Like it very much!

VE3XD- Very poor conditions here but had fun giving points to the IOTA stations.

VE7NH- Could only scrape 310 QSOs out of approx 1200 CQs. Condx over here were really poor. Very few EU stations hrd. GM0GAV was loud but he just could not copy me. Very few JAs participated and only hrd a few Oceania. Missed out on a lot of USA points due to my Local Power Line Noises going very strong, (as usual). One thing though, during
this Contest, I did not need any breaks to go and watch the Premier League games on the Telly. Only put in just over 8 hours because the start and finish times on the West (and best) coast are just not suitable for an O.T. like e....Wait till next year....By the way, your map almost Pinpointed my QTH exactly !!!
73/Doug/VE7NH, (ex GM3CXE/G3CXE)

VK4FRAJ- This was my 1st MAJOR contest as a ham...only licensed since June 07.
I am 12-years old.
I have a Foundation-class licence.
I used a CW reader to copy the fast CW stations!
I used N1MM contest program.
My power was: 3w CW 5w PEP
Antenna: Butternut HF2V w/tophat for 80-40m 8-el log for 15-10m.
If you want a photo I can send one.
Almost all dx stations had a hard time getting my 4-letter suffix!
73,
Raj

VK4TT- Yaesu FT1000MP
3Band Yagi + Inv Vees
Gday to all other Ops in Contest. Used SDI program
by EI5DI perfomed perfectly

VK6DXI- A nice 24h contest during our winter time.
I hope to be back next year.
73 to all.

VK8AV- I enjoyed the contest despite limited capability.

VO/ON6QR- VO/ON6QR First time in QRP 5W FT-817 and a dipole. It's a lot different to running 1K and beams like for some of the other islands I was since my first IOTA contest in 1995.
But it's fun to do it: you are able to count the QSOs and points without a pc !

VO1J- We set up an operated as VO1J on Fogo Island, off the north coast of Newfoundland in a new museum devoted to the history of Fogo. Part of that history was a Marconi commercial marine radio station with the call sign VOJ. We obtained the special call sign VO1J to mark the opening of this special
museum.

VU2BGS- IC-738
vertical wires
condx were poor but glad the contesters hrd this little
station running 70 watts

VY2LI- Squeezed in an hour of operating time while at QTH to do laundry. With temperature running close to 31C outside, my basement shack was a great place to be. Hope we got in your log,73,Bill

VY2Z- IC7800 IC756 PRO III ALPHA 76A
Beams for 40 20 15 and elevated 4 Square array for 80
First time operating as a multi with VE2BR. Great fun!
Used SDI. Great logging program for IOTA!

W3RFA- Accessed the island by sea kayak over four miles of open water. We had some 4 foot seas for the trip over but the kayaks did well. We ran from a car battery using an SG2020 xcrv at 20 watts. Ant was a G5RV on an extendable 30 foot mast. All equipment (including camping supplies) was less than 100 lbs. ea. We cut the contest short after KB3NYX was stung by a jelly fish (he's ok).

W6/VU2PTT- I am currently in the US and made a few QSOs from N6AA Dick's nice station in Topanga, California.

W7ASF/KL7- Kenwood TS-930S Swan Mark I amplifier
80m dipole
Half the stations worked not really in contest
Many stations worked did not know about IOTA It was fun
telling them about it

W7LKG- First time in an IOTA contest. Figured I would hear
more island stations, but propagation did not seem
to be the best here. Fair to good for NA, EU, and OC,
but not much from the SA or AF. Heard lots of sigs,
but many weak and in the QRN. Unusual not to hear
more JAs. Nice to know my hearing is still there. CU next year.

W7SW- Thanks for a great contest. 73 de Scotty W7SW

W7VMI- Conditions were very poor. 20 meters just died for about 5 hours right in the middle of our day. We were not in this to make a lot of points, but just have a little fun and do a little teaching about contesting.

WB0YJT- I had a lot of fun; just wish the band conditions were better. I heard many from Europe but was not able to get through; maybe it will be better next year. 73s John

YB2ECG- Joining the IOTA Contest series always bringing the a lot of fun!

YB3MM/9- To my XYL (YD3CLA): I know we are on
the island for honeymoon. But I want
to show you something else which can
make us more and more excited. It is
IOTA contest. Lets enjoy. (Adhi from
Lombok Island)

YB6LD- S P is more effective in a big contest with only a dipole
and low power, have to repeat call and reports many times.

YB6ZIR- Bad propagation.
Next time better !!!

YC5OUB- Nice contest, EU is opened on 08:00 UTC. See U on the next year

YE1ZAT- Thanks for QSO and hope to meet you again. Its nice Contest!! Best Regards from all Bekasi DX Club operators.

YT2A- Great contest as always. Unfortunately i couldn't rotate my beam during the contest. See You next year!

Goran, YT2A (ex.YZ1SG)

YU1AAV- Thanks everyone for points, think that IOTA stn should give only theit IOTA without qso number, it could speed up the contest!

YW1DX- Thanks all who help us to make this IOTA activation, just 36 hours in the Island, our original plan was to take part in HP, our second generator did not start after several tests in land, well we decided to take part in LP, from our qth, the begining of the contest was dificult no propagation for several hours, never open 10 or 15m, at night an electrical storm disturbed our plan and we had to stand by for more than an hour until storm and rain let us turn on the main generator.A nyway we are happy permitting many IOTA hunters get our QSL from our QSL manger IT9DAA,Corrado.
Once again thanks to all spot us,and suporting us like sponsor or donor, see you in our next Dxventure. Check out pictures at: http://www.yw1dx.4m5dx.org

ZC4LI- Thanks to all concerned in running the contest.

ZF2DK- I had planned to take my radio gear with me on a scheduled holiday trip to Grand Cayman, and a friend pointed out that I'd be there during the contest. Although the conditions weren't very good, and I really wasn't able to spend a lot of time on the air during the contest (I was too busy working on my suntan!) I did have a lot of fun and was happy to be able to give out points from NA-016. Ive written about my trip to ZF on my blog at http://k2dbk.blogspot.com

ZL2AWH- YAESU MK5 FT1000MP, TH3. USED SDI WHICH WORKED WELL. CONDITIONS WERE ATROCIOUS THE ONLY RELIABLE STATIONS WERE FROM GUAM.

ZM2B- Bands were very flat in this part of the world. Only worked 4 EU IOTA and only two Western Eu stations. Didn't hear any G stations at all. But worked 11 OC IOTA and 14 NA IOTA. Nearly 75% of contacts were with NA stations.
